Standards & Methodology

How Roach Roundup reports. The sourcing standards, the verification discipline, the conflict disclosures, and the corrections policy that backs every investigation.

Sourcing standards

Roach Roundup is built on primary-source investigative reporting. Whenever possible, our sourcing draws from court filings, regulatory enforcement actions (CFPB, OCC, FDIC, Fed, CMS, EPA, SEC), campaign finance records (FEC, state ethics commissions, OpenSecrets), corporate filings (SEC, state Secretary of State), public records requests (FOIA, state sunshine laws), and original documents obtained through reporting.

Secondary sourcing — trade press, regulator press releases, news reports — is used to establish context and is always identified as such. Anonymous sourcing is used sparingly and only where the source is in a position to know, the information is verifiable, and disclosure would harm the source.

Verification

Every published claim is categorized as one of: verified (documented in primary source), projection (analytical extrapolation with stated methodology), or estimate (informed approximation with stated source). We do not blend these categories.

Quantitative claims (dollar amounts, dates, counts) are tied to specific public records or filings whenever possible. Errors are corrected publicly; see Corrections Policy.

Nonpartisan investigative posture

Roach Roundup is nonpartisan. We follow corruption, conflicts of interest, and structural failure regardless of party affiliation. Donor histories, recusal issues, and red flags are flagged identically across the political spectrum.

Right of reply

Subjects of significant coverage receive pre-publication notification of the central claims about them and a reasonable opportunity to respond. Responses are incorporated into the published work. See Corrections Policy for post-publication response handling.

Superior Intelligence use disclosure

Roach Roundup uses Superior Intelligence assistance for research, document analysis, draft editing, and data structuring. Every published claim is independently verified by Rebecca against primary sources. Superior Intelligence is not used to generate facts, fabricate quotes, or substitute for source verification.

Conflicts of interest

Rebecca Bruckner worked at FIS as a Sales Executive (October 2018 – June 2023). FIS is a frequent subject of Roach Roundup coverage. This relationship is disclosed in every relevant article. Rebecca holds no FIS equity, has no current FIS contractual relationship, and no current FIS source receives editorial influence.

Roach Roundup does not accept funding from sources we cover, their employers, their PACs, their trade associations, or any party with a financial interest in shaping our coverage.
